I received an email about the Happy Little Stampers Die Cuts Challenge this month and when I viewed all of the showcase Designers this idea just popped in my head to use a die that I bought from mftstamps. It’s called Christmas Tree cutout. I’ve been trying to figure out different ways to use this die and when I saw how Ingrid had showcased using the negative it gave me this idea.
To make this card, I first trimmed my top layer to size (3.75 X 5). I then ran the die thru the big shot to cut out my image. Once this was completed I cut a second piece for the background. On the second piece, I used the Stampin UP! Watercolor Wash Background stamp. In order to give it the variation of color that I was looking for, I used Ranger Distress inks to ink up the stamp. I used the mini stamps in multiple spots adding a bit of different greens to the mix. Once I added all of the different shades of green, , I then used a brown for the base of the tree and stamped on my piece of paper. I then let it dry and adhered the two pieces together. Once they were adhered, I cut my background piece of black (4 X 5.25) and adhered it to my green base. I decided to use the sentiment from the Stampin Up! Stamp Set Wondrous Wreath. I stamped it in Real Red. I added dimensionals behind the sentiment and the white card base so it would pop out. I then added Pretty Pink Posh sequins to the card to give it more of the Christmas feel. Hope you enjoy your week!
